The Guam Economic Development Authority Launches the Local Employer’s Assistance Program
December 20, 2021
The Guam Economic Development Authority has begun accepting applications from local businesses to receive grants and loans through the Local Employers Assistance Program (LEAP). All businesses that experienced a severe decline in revenues (50% or more for large businesses and 25% or more for small business) were encouraged to apply. Jovyna Lujan, Chairperson of The Guam Travel and Tourism Association (GTTA) said, “This is a welcomed program that helps those businesses the fell through the cracks in applying for federal or other local programs.” She went on to explain that GTTA had been working hard with the Legislature, GEDA and the Governor’s office to extend desperately needed assistance to all sized businesses including companies with less than five employees. According to Ms. Lujan GTTA was able bring the Governor, the Legislature and GEDA together to develop a program what provides desperately needed financial assistance for local businesses. “GTTA is about generating results to help our industry, and we are proud to have been a part of helping the Governor, the Legislature and GEDA get the LEAP program off the ground.”
